Skyrim. How I’ve missed you!
I first played Skyrim on PS3 when it came out in November 2011. It was Bethesda’s 5th release in their Elder Scrolls series, but it was my introduction to this amazing world.
Dropping back into Skyrim feels like visiting an old friend. One with fantasy characters, versatile combat and, of course, magic! Restarting this game on the PS4 is as magical as it was the first time I played. The graphics are better but everything else is familiar, in a heart warming, cozy way.
My first play through I was a high elf, vampire-mage, married to an orc with two adopted girls. My orc hubby stayed home with the kids while I adventured with my bestie vampire girlfriend. It was a good life with many wonderful adventures.
The hardest part of the game was the dragons.

It was hard to kill the dragons. Not that they were difficult to kill (ok, some of them were!) but I hated killing them. I wanted to befriend the dragons. I’m a Disney princess in that way. I want to befriend all the animals in game and in real life! What a great adventure it would be… dragon and dragonborn, flying around Tamriel destroying our shared enemies. Oh the adventures we could have had!
But the point of the game was to rid Skyrim of the dragons. The main story line revolves around dragons coming back to Tamriel. The protagonist’s purpose is to hunt and kill them. In the end, after a lot of adventuring and leveling up, I did get back to the main quest and finish the story line. It was a bitter sweet ending.
This time around… I’m another high elf.
I’ll be a vampire again too. What can I say? I know what I like! And there is nothing wrong with making some of the same choices. There are so many side quests and other choices to make that every play through is different.
Skyrim is a large game with many story lines and a lot of grinding. It will take me ages to get through it again as I only have time for it a few hours at a time, every few weeks. So I won’t do a post on each aspect. Instead, this will be the main thread for it. I’ve created a YouTube playlist to compile the streams and clipped footage. I will also update the photo gallery as I play so I can save shots of the entire game as I work my way through.
