Hello & welcome, fellow World Droppers!
For those of you who’ve been here before, things have changed slightly. Nothing crazy. Just a few updates, along with some name and description changes.
For those of you who are new… welcome! You’re here right on time.
The original version of this blog launched in 2022. I was tired, a little beaten up by life, and needed something creative to hold onto. I built this place and it helped. In the fall of 2024, I was doing really well. I was healthy and happy, doing well at work and plugging through side projects. Life was finally looking good. Then, my neighbour to the South decided to get back together with their abusive ex, and it’s affected a lot of people, myself included.
The political climate hit hard. Watching the world shift in ways that felt genuinely threatening took a toll on my mental health that I wasn’t prepared for. I’m not ashamed to admit I really struggled. After years of getting myself to a good place mentally, fixing my nervous system and truly enjoying life for the first time, the world decided to take a collective step backwards. What was the point of even trying, if the rug would be yanked away again. The blog became quiet. My Discord server fell flat. The streaming was knocked down to the bare minimum. I just didn’t have the energy for basic life skills, let alone all the creative projects I wanted to do.
It’s been a slow road learning to live in this new normal and adjusting my habits. I removed a lot of social media. I only look at the news once a day for highlights. I’m de-cluttering & decorating my home. I’ve even planted a garden! Who knew strawberries could grow on a 6th floor north-facing balcony! And I run away to the forest whenever possible, surround myself with positive people and enjoy the little moments.
It’s been a hard fight, but the changes have helped. And somewhere in the middle of all that quiet rebuilding, something unexpected showed up. I started working with AI tools and, to my surprise, they helped me reach for the things I’d put down.
I know a lot of people feel certain ways about AI. I felt it too. At first I used it because work wanted me to. Told us really. Here’s Copilot. Here’s a brief description. Use it. The thing I never expected was that I ended up enjoying it! It didn’t take long for me to see the value in it at work, and once I realised how helpful it could be, I signed up for Claude at home.
I won’t go into much detail on my work with AI just yet because I plan to do some blog posts on it as well. For now, I’ll say I’ve learned more about my AuDHD brain and how it works than I ever knew before! That understanding alone has helped me in multiple ways. And the way Claude can take a word vomit of ideas from me, then sort them into a system that makes sense, is one of the most remarkable things I’ve seen. My thoughts and projects are organised and managed. The mental load is minimised. My focus is back. I’m consistently working on my fun projects. I’m writing again.
Which brings us here to this blog refresh! The foundation is the same, but names and descriptions have changed a bit. Everything is more focused within the mythos I’ve been building.
One to note… I do all my own writing. All the weirdly phrased sentences. The typos. The mixed up tenses. That’s me! Claude helps me organize my thoughts. I do my own work.
Here’s a look at what I’m working on:
- Refreshes/updates on the blog, Twitch stream and Discord server.
- My home lab project is mapped out and the foundations are being built.
- And there may be a few fiction ideas rolling about! I have always wanted to write a book.
There will be blog posts aplenty & a commitment to at least one new post per month. I plan to track my work with Claude, all of the home lab projects, more games & whatever random stuff I feel like ranting about!
More than anything, in all the things I do, I want to be a helper. I’d like to create a community that cares and supports each other, while sharing creative projects. And I hope all of my places (IRL & online) reflect that. Be the change you want to see and all that! Life is hard. Why not be kind and enjoy it, with each other, while we can.
Welcome World Droppers! It’s good to see your friendly faces. You’re welcome here.
Peace, love & gaming,
~ LL
