Hue. Hue. Hue. You are fun, beautiful and frustrating as heck!

Of course, I mean that in the best possible way.

This puzzle platform released in 2016 is a delight to play and just the right level of challenge. You drop into a colourless world to play as the title character. It’s your purpose to find the 8 missing colours and return them to this black & white world. You have to work with the colours to find your way through the mazes and solve the puzzles. Along the way, you’ll find messages from your mother that explain what happened to the colour in the world.

The graphics and colours are beautiful. I found the way we used colours, turning specific ones on or off to reveal platforms, movable objects, doors etc., was clever and fun. The mechanics were easier than I initially anticipated given what we needed to accomplish, but it was also easy to get your fingers in a knot on the levels with timed colour swapping and precision jumping.

The average play time is 4-6 hours but it took me closer to 9 hours to complete. And I didn’t really complete it. I finished the main story line but did not get all the collectibles. In fact, it’s embarrassing how few collectibles I found! I’m not the best at side-scrolling platformers, especially with timed levels, so at times this was a challenge for me. And I just could not wrap my head around the puzzle in the last level. BUT… I did it. It may have taken me 3.5 hours just to finish the final level, but I did! It was the perfect difficulty level for me and despite getting frustrate a few times, I really enjoyed it. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a few hours of puzzle solving. I’d REALLY recommend it to anyone who likes the combination of platformers and puzzles.

Spoiler warning! The following is a full walkthrough so it has spoilers. If you haven’t played the game you might not want to see this!
